Building a Beachshade Shelter

This type of shelter is easy to make and will shade you from the sun, heat, rain, and wind. It is perfect for a beach environment.

To Make a Beach-shade Shelter:

  1. Collect some driftwood or any other material that will serve as as support beams and to use as a digging tool.
  2. Be sure that you place your shelter site above the high water mark.
  3. Dig out a trench that runs from north to south (in order to reduce the amount of exposure to the sun). Make the trench wide and long enough so that you can lay do in it confortably.
  4. Lay the materials you have gathered for support beams over the top of the trench. Cover the top with palm branches (or any other suitable material) to form a roof.
  5. Make the entrance larger by digging out more sand in from of it
  6. Use grass or leaves to form a confortable bed inside of your shelter.
