How to Build a Swamp Bed
If you are forced to survive in a swamp or marsh environment, you will need a way to stay up off the wet ground. A swamp bed will give you an elevated place to rest or even put some of your equipment.
To make yourself a swamp bed:
- Look for four trees clustered together that form a rectangular shape. If you cannnot find suitable trees, you can cut four poles and place them firmly into the ground in the rectangular shape. Remember to place them in a way that they are sturdy enough for your weight and height.
- Cut two poles that are long enough to cover the length of your rectangle. Keep in mind that these poles must also be strong enough to support you.
- Tie the poles to the trees (or pole supports) so that they are high enough above the ground (or water) so that you will not get wet from tides and high water.
- Cut some smaller poles and secure them across the width of the swamp bed
- Cover the top of your swamp bed with leaves, grass, or other suitable materials in order to make for a more cushioned resting surface.
